Responses from the Chat Room ….

Sorry again for not being able to host a Mets Chat Room last night. There’s a lot going on right now personally I must attend to. My plans are to host a Mets Chat Room Wednesday night and a Jets Chat Room Thursday night.

Again, your patience is very much appreciated.

OK …. to respond to some of your questions from last night.

Mike (1): Thanks for the well wishes. Everything will turn out alright, I am sure. Everybody is healthy, so that’s the most important thing. I heard about the Dye rumor, but can’t see it. Why make a trade when there are options in the FA market. Bottom line: Why give up players and money when you can only give up money.

Ray Sadecki (2): Trading Holliday is another sign the Rockies want to work the cheap side of the street. OK, which closer will they keep: Fuentes or Street?

benny (4): The 2009 A’s will be intriguing. I wouldn’t have made the deal unless I could sign Holliday, but perhaps Billy Beane’s thinking is he can unload salary and players he won’t bring back for a player he will dump in July for prospects. If not, do you really think the A’s will go long term for him? Probably not. Mets could be in the Holliday market in July or next winter.

Gravedigger (6): Agreed on the voting.

Harry (8): Agree with you. Why trade when you can sign somebody off the FA list. Dye should cost more than Burrell, for example.-JD

Mets Chat Room ….

I’m sorry, but some personal matters will prevent me from hosting a Mets Chat Room Tonight. At least to the point where I can participate as usual.

Please, if there’s anything on your mind, post and I’ll try to respond tomorrow morning. I hope to set up a Mets Chat Room for either tomorrow night or Wednesday.

Thanks for your patience. JD

Mets Chat Room: Gathering around the Hot Stove

What's on your mind?

What's on your mind?

Pat Burrell turned down $22 million over two years from Philadelphia and CC Sabathia is about to turn down over $100 million from Milwaukee.

All signs are pointing toward the Yankees getting Sabathia. They don’t appear to have a ceiling. The same can’t be said about the Mets. They’ll have money coming off the books with Pedro Martinez, Orlando Hernandez and Moises Alou going, but they’ll be giving raises to David Wright and Jose Reyes.

Their payroll last year was $143 million, and I don’t see it going much higher.

We can discuss all of that tonight.

Gooood Morning: Scanning the headlines and asking your favorite WFAN voice.

The FAN and Mets extend contract.

The FAN and Mets extend contract.

Lots of good discussion last night in Mets Chat Room. We’ll keep it up every Monday night in the off-season and, of course, we’ll talk during the World Series.

Woke up this morning with these items:

-The Mets and WFAN have re-upped their contract. It was a no-brainer. This is as good a time as any to ask who is your favorite and least-liked WFAN personality.

-Joba Chamberlain got into it with after being heckled by a Red Sox fan in a Nebraska strip club. Evidently, he was missed Crash Davis’ lecture that day. The papers said the Yankees would give Chamberlain “a second chance.” Really?

-The Yankees and Dallas Cowboys are in bed together. Legends Hospitality Management, a name that indicates a believe they are better than everybody else. It’s about concessions and merchandising sales. I’m waiting for the day when they merchandise oxygen.

You are invited: Mets Chat Room, tonight at 7

On Monday evenings at 7, I will host a Mets Chat Room, where we can talk all things Mets.

Let’s see, there’s who among the Mets’ free agents they should retain, and who out there they should throw money at. … Willie Randolph, once rejected by Milwaukee, is a candidate. … Five days after the Series they must decide on Carlos Delgado.

And, of course, we will preview the World Series.

So, there’s a lot to discuss. I hope you’ll join me tonight and every Monday at 7 during the off-season.

Thanks, JD.

Mets Chat Room: Talkin’ Mets and baseball.

CHAT ROOM: What's on your mind?

CHAT ROOM: What's on your mind?

Hi folks. Hope you’re enjoying the holiday. Especially if you had the day off. The Mets are quiet, but of course your imagination and passions about them are not. So, we can talk about that.

Then there are the playoffs. I hadn’t planned on blogging during the playoffs, but your response has been terrific, so I’ll continue.

Rays and Red Sox are on this afternoon, followed by Dodgers-Phillies. We have Giants and Browns tonight on MNF, so there’s a lot to talk about. If you’ve got any comments or questions, let’s have them. Looking forward to talking with you.

Chat Room tonight at 7

I’ll host a Mets Chat Room tonight at 7. The last two turnouts have been great and I’m hoping for the same. There’s a better than even chance I’ll open the Room early because of the Rays-Red Sox.

For those of you who are off today, Happy Holiday.

Talk with you later.
