The schedule is a formality, outlining the five-day period the Mets have after the World Series is over to negotiate exclusively with shortstop Jose Reyes before he can begin fielding offers from other teams.

It is a formality because Reyes isn’t about to sign or even commit an asking price to the Mets until his agents sit down with potential suitors, not after making it through the final season of his contract relatively healthy and very productive.

But it is the first time that Reyes and the Mets will discuss a deal, something that the team was hesitant to do in spring training with a new front office and a beaten-down ownership group that claimed to want to see Reyes prove himself on the field.

The New York Mets have settled with a woman whose back was broken when another fan tumbled onto her in the stands in the former Shea Stadium, court records show.
