Actually I think the Mets absolutely need to reward him with a spot in the rotation. He has always been a starter, and has always done what the team asked. His value has gone down, and his opportunity to prove himself as a starter has diminished as a sacrifice to the team. The Mets have a whole in their rotation, and they have a player under contract ready and willing.
