Lee Maz Out at SNY

Bob Raissman reports in the News that SNY has decided not to renew Lee Mazzilli as their lead studio analyst. He goes on to say Harold Reynolds won’t be back either because he is going to the MLB Network.

It’s been reported Bob Ojeda is in talks to fill a vacant spot.

Mazz wasn’t great, but he wasn’t horrible either and he sometimes brought up some good points. I wish him well whatever he winds up doing. If they are going to bring in someone else, I wish it could be Piazza. When he was in the booth with Gary and Ron I remember thinking he would make a really good commentator.

I agree with you on Piazza. He was very good broadcasting the Home Run Hitting Contest.

Of course, Mike will have to want the job.

I’m indifferent about Maz leaving. Loved him as a player, as a TV guy, not so much. Disappointed in Reynolds going, I enjoyed his work and felt he added a lot to the show. I’m just glad that Gary Carter is employed and therefore unavailable, and if it’s true that Bob Ojeda is coming aboard, I wish him luck.
