In an article published by the NY Daily News, Mets reliever Aaron Heilman said - through his agent - he wants to start or be traded.
“The object the entire time has never been to get out of New York,” Heilman’s agent Mark Rodgers told the Daily News. “The object is to get out of the bullpen. The most success he’s ever had as a pitcher has been as a starting pitcher. He was drafted by the Mets as a starting pitcher.”

Daniel Murphy will be in New York tomorrow to get an MRI on his right knee. The Mets second baseman/outfielder experienced discomfort while playing for the Peoria Saguaros in the Arizona Fall League.
Murphy started to experience soreness about a week ago.

Dan Graziano of the Star-Ledger wrote this great article on the Mets needs on the offense this off-season. The veteran baseball columnist goes into detail on what the Mets can get position by position.
As for the outfield, he says, “It’s tough to find a perfect fit here, and the Mets seem to want/need to spend their off-season money on pitching. But I think this is where Omar Minaya needs to get creative — to remember the work he did in the 05-06 off-season to create a deep, multifaceted lineup with a strong bench, and to identify that as the main difference between his outstanding 2006 team and the disappointing units that gagged away playoff spots in 2007 and 2008.”

Since this is shaping up to be a slow day, I figure I will post a movie over here to hold you guys over. Last night, between feedings, I worked on a movie site with watchable flicks courtesy of Hulu.
Anyway, a good baseball movie should help until any news gets released.

Not much in the papers. Ken Davidoff in Newsday went over the options for the Mets again, including closer, starter and outfield.
Pretty much it’s K-Rod or Brian Fuentes for the ninth.

One more article in the DN, saying Pedro wants to come back.
Said his agent: “He’s not ready to retire. He had a tough year, first with the injury and then with the death of his dad. It took a toll. But Pedro’s put all of that behind him. He’s very competitive and would like to finish his career strong,” Cuza said. “He feels fantastic and he’s been working hard.”

Adam Rubin’s article today gives a clearer picture on why Francisco Rodriguez was in the US to get a medical report or a physical over the weekend. Apparently, the Angels have not released his history to his agent Paul Kinzer and clubs need the info before they bid.
So a blood test and an MRI makes sense, because his agent can release that to the indivdual teams.

Besides the inning where Dan Graziano says the Mets will go after one of the Big Three [K-Rod, Brian Fuentes, or Kerry Wood], the Star-Ledger columnist says the rest of the Extreme Makeover: Bullpen Edition will consist of strikeout pitchers.

In the weekly eye in the sky pictures, WCBS-88 has pictures of Citi Field with the grass down.
It now looks like a real baseball stadium in Queens.
